In the book Wonder, I read the chapter The Bleeding Scream. I thought it was kind of mean, that Jack Will was just pretending to be friends with August. Do you think that August should forgive Jack Will?
I didn't think it was "kind of" mean. I thought it was a horrible thing for Jack Will to say. I first thought Auggie should never forgive him, but later I changed my mind.... Jack Will may not be who we think he is.
Forgiving someone is quite a deep emotion. For me, it has a lot to do with understanding myself and how I process. I also think that forgiveness is supported by empathy. The ways in which other's feel, informs my decisions to forgive. I wonder if August will forgive Jack?
Hi Gisele! It is Shailee. I also thought the Bleeding Scream was really mean. I can't believe Jack Will was that mean because he was the nice one on the tour.

Auggie should not forgive Jack Will yet, as Jack has not realized or understood the effects his comments had on Auggie. I think its difficult to forgive someone unless they understand and express regret about their mistakes.
I believe that Auggie should forgive Jack Will. Auggie cannot control Jack Will and what he says or does, but he does have the ability to control himself, his choices and how he reacts to things. Keeping a chip on his shoulder for jack Will does nothing for Auggie. This situation reminds me of my favorite quote of all time, "Your life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it." In this case Auggie should forgive and move forward.
Jack will should forgive Auggie I would if I were Auggie.

ReplyDeleteThat part made me feel so sad for Auggie and it still makes me feel badly when I think about it but I think Auggie is a very forgiving person.
