What I'm Going To Blog About
Hi, my name is Lilly, and I am going to blog about the book "Wonder". Today I am going to tell you a little bit about the chapter called "The Bleeding Scream." In the chapter there is a kid called Jack Will, and he was talking to a kid called Julian. August, a kid with a serious problem that didn't let his face form right, was the bleeding scream, Jack Will was a mummy, and Julian was Darth Sidious. When August came in to his homeroom, he overheard Jack Will talking to Julian about August's face. Jack Will said "If I looked like that, then I would kill myself" (pg. 77). I think that August felt very sad. He went home because he felt like someone punched him in the gut.

Hi Lilly, it is Shailee. The thing I thought was most rude was when Jack Will said to Julian I would kill myself if my face looked like that. I don't blame August to feel like someone punched him in the gut. That was so sad. Poor Auggie.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a bit to figure out that this was a Halloween-related scene. And then I realized "the bleeding scream" referred to the famous painting by Edvard Munch..and the Halloween masks I've seen inspired by that painting.

ReplyDeleteThe very first thing I remembered was when some of the kids teased me by calling me things like, "Slanted Eyes," "Chink," or "Go back to Japan!" when I moved to the United States. Words can either destroy someone's excitement or completely make his/her day, right? It really takes a compassionate person to forgive a person who made a mistake. I love learning from Auggie!
